Recap of the 2021 code review was discussed with Richard Shanker leading the
conversation and talking about how the review ended and what the result was.
Rob then began to review the agenda and asked Aaron to clarify the packet that
was distributed that had a collection of the information from last code review
including summary of minutes from meetings, Summary of position statements
that were presented at the end of that meeting. As well as data related to the cost
of implementing the 2021 Codes.
Blake McClellan and Aaron Decker discussed the components of the previous
review from different perspectives as well as the current functioning of enforcing
and verifying the Energy Code Provisions in the field today. Richard Shanker asked
if the new building designers see big changes in the 2024 code from a commercial
standpoint. Those in attendance indicated they defer to the consultants and Blake
verified some of the impacts as well as functioning of the relationships with the
consultants in our community as well as some others that he works in. The
Commercial Code has become more expansive and includes a lot more information
than the 2021 code.
It was discussed to possibly adopt that night but that it would be better to review
before suggesting adoption. Commercial will be the focus of the next meeting to
get that portion of the review done.
