1) Selection of Committee Chairperson
Richard Shanker to chair the committee
2) Discussion of Review Layout
Richard Shanker moved to the second item on the agenda and turned the floor over
to Michael Bauer.
Michael Bauer explained the layout of comparison between the 2018, 2021 and 2024
codes that his team has begun. He also mentioned some additional amendments
that will be discussed, such as Brycer to be used for annual inspections of fire
systems and how that system worked.
3) Discuss Chapters 1 (Scope and Administration), 7 (Fire and Smoke Protection Features), 8 (Interior
Finish, Decorative Materials and Furnishings), 21 (Dry Cleaning), 22 ( Combustible Dust-Producing
Operations), 23 (Motor Fuel-Dispensing Facilities and Repair Garages), 28 (Lumber Yards and
Agro-Industrial, Solid Biomass and Wooworking Facilities), 29 (Manufacture of Organic Coatings)
Discussion of the code started with Chapter 1 of the IFC. While going through the
administrative amendments there were little discussions. Upon arrival at that the
permitting section of 105. The discussion began with deleting those that were not
in normal practice in Columbia and to keep those that are needed. The discussion
paused and centered on Lithium Battery Storage permits and Indoor Plants as the
list was more deletion than addition. Fire department is requesting review by
BCCC to approve new permits for some new classifications as well as an extensive
review of the heating under tents that are listed at 105.5.55-105.5.57.
Kyle Saunders commented to put time limits on the meeting at about 1 hour
15 minutes.
Michael Bauer continued through remaining chapter 1.
