Staff indicated that Parks and Recreation will plan to bring a report to council in
January, 2026 detailing potential locations for a public sanitation facility.
Generate Ideas for Updated HRC Literature and Outreach
Staff advised that the Commission could generate content that is then shared
through City Source, Social Media advertisement (Facebook), etc. The Commission
is considering curating a “Know Your Rights” advertisement strategy.
HREP Outreach Strategy
The Commission discussed several different opportunities for consideration of
advertising HREP funding opportunities.
Ideas for Outreach opportunity with Missouri Commission on Human Rights
Staff advised that they will follow-up with MCHR contact and let them know that
they will provide further direction after the first of the year for programming
opportunity in March, 2026.
VIII. NEW BUSINESS
Pedestrian Safety Ordinance Feedback to the City Council
The Commission will determine if there is a Human Rights element to this
ordinance and what the potential recommendation should be from the
Commissioners. A letter will be curated for review by the Commission before being
presented to council by February, 2026.
HREP Requests
Amanda Hinnant moved to approve the $500 request from the Daniel Boone
Regional Library for their outreach. Meera Sood seconded the motion. The motion
passed by majority. Paige Lubbering abstained.

X. GENERAL COMMENTS BY PUBLIC, MEMBERS AND STAFF
The Commission discussed participation in the Columbia Values Diversity
Celebration. Amanda Hinnant moved to approve $150 for two tickets for the
Columbia Values Diversity Breakfast and related advertisement. Penny Kuhns-Knarr
seconded the motion. The motion unanimously passed.
