INTRODUCTIONS
III.
"History is One Form of Preservation" - David Sapp
Local author and scholar David Sapp will present "History Is One Form of
Preservation." Not everything can be preserved, but all our structures have
a history. David will share the history of two historic structures that are no
longer part of the architectural fabric of Columbia: the 200-year-old Bear
Creek Christian Church and the 75-year-old Lustron House.
IV.
"Barnett School and the Barnett Welfare Workers Club" - Vikki Pauley
Genealogist Vikki Pauley will present "Barnett School and the Barnett
Welfare Workers Club." Genealogical research can take many forms, and,
in this presentation, Pauley will share the histories she has uncovered
while researching the Barnett School and the Barnett Welfare Workers
Club in northeastern Boone County. This club served as one of the
precursors to today’s 4H Clubs, and Vikki will share how and where she
performed the historical and genealogical research to learn more about
this historic Boone County school, the club it housed and the club’s
members.
