I. CALL TO ORDER  
Chair, Helen Hinnant-Root called the meeting to order at approximately 6:01 p.m.

II. INTRODUCTIONS  
None.  
III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA  
Motion to approve the agenda made by Isabella Shah, seconded by Langston  
Schatz-Mitchell; motion carried.  
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES  
October 10, 2023 YAC Minutes  
Motion to approve the October 10, 2023 minutes made by Spencer Herman,  
seconded by Hazel Keithahn; motion carried.  
V. OLD BUSINESS  
City Council Meeting - Attendee Updates  
Hazel Keithahn attended the October 16th City Council meeting and brought back her  
views and thoughts about what was discussed.  
Members discussed and agreed to have (name) write a letter of support to Council  
regarding the City becoming a Sanctuary City.  
Members discussed who will be attending the following City Council Meetings: Jiya  
Shetty will be attending the November 20th City Council meeting and Isabella Shah will  
attend the Dec 4, 2023 City Council Meeting.  
Podcast Discussion  
Members discussed the podcast from last year, and decided to move forward with a new  
episode.  
Members discussed potential guests they could invite to be a part of the podcast as well  
as topics they could touch on such as sustainability and how youth and parents can help  
this community be more sustainable.  
Youth Summit Discussion  
- Finalize Date  
- Location  
Members discussed various possibilities for potential locations, organizations to invite,  
community outreach, and other details for planning the Youth Summit.  
Youth Summit Planning Committee Updates  
Members discussed the possible location and itinerary for the Youth Summit. Members  
suggested Hexagon Alley or Peace Park. Members discussed how to target certain  
audiences such as middle and highschool students and marketing and recreational  
activities. They also discussed having a few working groups to target different planning  
areas of the summit such as catering, decorating, outreach. Some organizations brought  
up that they would like to invite include:  
-Key Club  
-Debate Club  
-Army Ants  
-Mac Scholars  
-Stu gov  
-Hope club  
-Non-profit Math Club  
-FACE  
-Food bank  
Youth Survey  
Members reviewed the letter drafted by Shubb Gautum that will be sent to CPS  
principals/staff. This letter will help to spread awareness of what the Youth Advisory  
Council is and hopefully get more youth interested in joining YAC.  
Motion to approve the letter to the principal made by Langston Schatz-Mitchell,  
seconded by Jiya Shetty; motion carried.

VII. GENERAL COMMENTS BY PUBLIC, MEMBERS AND STAFF  
Emily Crumbliss stated she is really excited to attend the National League of Cities  
Conference. She leaves tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. and will let everyone know at the next  
meeting what she learned.
