Sports Development Application - Missouri Basketball Coaches Association
The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) has submitted a Sports
Development Application for funding of its local events. Ziervogel gave the board time
to review the application and ask any questions that they might have. Schneider
provided a quick explanation of how Tourism Development Funding works and the
restrictions on the funds. The Small College Showcase is no longer an event that the
MBCA organizes. The MBCA has repackaged its events to include the Norm Stewart
Classic, the Sophie Cunningham Classic, and the Missouri Basketball Coaches Clinic for
this period of funding. The Norm Stewart Classic will no longer be 48 hours of
continuous play, but instead it will be a three day event. The MBCA has previously
been funded for the Norm Stewart Classic for three years for $10,000. Schneider,
Arnold, and Egan offered their support for recommending funding at the requested
amount of $15,000 over three years.
Klarfeld motioned to support the event for $15,000 over the three year period outlined in
the application, Marcks seconded. All in favor. Motion carried.
