I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Buffaloe called the meeting to order at approximately 5:00 p.m.
Water Treatment Plant Improvement Project Status Update
Utilities Director, Dave Sorrell presented Council with a presentation on updates on a
project at the water treatment plant. He gave a brief history and show where at proposed
based bid and alternates. Also have a discussion about Advanced treatment that we may
want to explore in the future.
Shawn Carrico, Engineering Supervisor for the water division presented the Council with
an update on the McBaine water treatment plant phase 1 improvement project,
alternatives analysis/pilot study and recommended next steps.
Carrico went on to discuss the purpose of the project, system modernization, and
project scope (design). He identified improvements, market conditions and the bid
approach for this project scope.
The purpose of this scope is to replace aging infrastructure for enhanced reliability,
restore water treatment capacity, improve current treatment performance and prepare for
potential future treatment enhancements.
Ryan Sapples with HDR gave an overview of the contract scope. City Staff and HDR, Inc.
have developed a phased approach to the construction of the project to address current
market conditions.
Advanced Treatment Alternatives Discussion
Trent Stover with HDR gave an overview of studies that were conducted to inform future
potential advanced treatment alternatives.
Council and staff discussed the budget for the improvement project and treatment
alternatives.Market values have significantly increased which have also increased the
cost of this project particularly related to chemical feed.
Council and staff further discussed the project and what needs were most important.
